Acer Aspire 5 A515-51 data recovery
We recover files from the Acer Aspire 5 A515-51, from a series Acer sold 2017–2026, at our London SE1 lab. It has an M.2 SSD, often with a 2.5-inch drive as well. Common causes of data loss are a failed drive, liquid, drops and accidental deletion.
Where your files are
The Acer Aspire 5 A515-51 has an M.2 SSD for Windows, and many versions also have a 2.5-inch bay with a second hard drive or SSD for files. Your data may be on either drive, so tell us where you saved things.

What’s wrong with it?
| What it is doing | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Clicking, ticking or beeping | The hard drive’s heads have failed. Switch it off: every start can scratch the platters. |
| Dropped, now won’t start | Usually head damage in the hard drive. A cleanroom job; the data is often fine. |
| “No bootable device” | The drive isn’t detected, or Windows is damaged. Often a straightforward recovery. |
| Very slow, freezing | A failing drive with bad sectors. Copy it now, before it gets worse. |
| Files deleted or laptop reset | Logical recovery, as long as the drive hasn’t been used much since. |
Switch it off. Don’t keep restarting a laptop that clicks, freezes or won’t start, and don’t reset Windows. Both can overwrite or destroy the files you want back.

Questions about the Acer Aspire 5 A515-51
Can you recover data from a Acer Aspire 5 A515-51 that won’t turn on?
Usually, yes. The Acer Aspire 5 A515-51 has an M.2 SSD, often with a 2.5-inch drive as well, which we can take out and recover even if the laptop itself is dead.
Is my data encrypted?
Possibly. Many Windows 10 and 11 laptops switch on device encryption or BitLocker automatically. The recovery key is saved in your Microsoft account at aka.ms/myrecoverykey. With the key, encryption doesn’t stop the recovery.
How long does it take?
Most logical recoveries take two to four working days. Drives that need cleanroom work or board repair take longer, and we can prioritise urgent jobs.
